Logo Golf Balls for Charity Scramble Fundraisers
A charity scramble has two financial jobs: raise money for the cause, and make the sponsors feel good enough about it to come back next year. The gift bag sits at the intersection of both, and most events under-invest in it.
Here is how logo golf balls do the work.
The item every player keeps
Walk the parking lot after an outing and you will see what worked. Cheap sunglasses and stress balls go in the trash. A sleeve of custom logo golf balls goes in the trunk, every time.
Golf balls are the one item in a scramble gift bag that every player uses, nobody discards, and everybody notices the quality of.
Whose logo goes on it
Players keep a ball that names the charity far more often than one that names a sponsor, because the first is a memento and the second is an advertisement. Put the charity and the event year on the ball. Recognize the title sponsor on the towel, the signage, and the program.
The print area is about the size of a quarter, so this is not really a choice about hierarchy. There is room for one mark and a year, and the charity is the right one.
Quantity planning
- Foursomes times four, which is your registered player count.
- Add 10 percent for late registrations, which always arrive in the final week.
- Volunteers, committee members, and the sponsor who brings a guest.
- A reserve for on-course contests and closest-to-the-pin prizes.
Order for your expected count rather than your confirmed count. Running out at the registration table is the one failure players mention afterward.
Funding the bag
The gift bag should not come out of the charity's proceeds. Sell a dedicated gift bag sponsorship, and the entire cost is covered before you place the order.
It is one of the easier sponsorships to sell, because the business can count exactly how many hands their support reaches and the deliverable is concrete.
Using them beyond the bag
- On-course contests. A personalized ball as a closest-to-the-pin prize costs less than a gift card and gets kept longer.
- Auction packages. A dozen with the winner's name added is a strong add-on to a silent auction lot.
- Sponsor thank-yous. A personalized sleeve delivered after the event, with the sponsor's own name on it, is the renewal conversation starter.
- Next year's marketing. Leftovers with an undated design become promotional items for the following event.
Lead time
Production runs 7 to 10 business days from proof approval, and three weeks ahead is the standard recommendation. Charity outings cluster in late spring and early fall, which are our two densest windows.
Place the order as soon as registration is close to final rather than waiting for an exact number. The last ten registrations always come in during the final week, and you cannot manufacture in three days.
